Admission Requirements

Article 11 of the Articles of Association:

1. All Buddhist entities wishing to be admitted as members of the Federation must apply for membership in writing and be approved by the Board of the Federation. The following requirements must be fulfilled at the time of application.

A.- To be registered as a religious entity in the Registry of Religious Entities of the Ministry of Justice.

B.- To provide proof of continuous existence as a religious Buddhist organization for a minimum period of three years previous to the date of application.

C.- To belong to an uninterrupted lineage of practise and teachings going back to the Sakyamuni Buddha. Reliable proof of said belonging must be provided by a well acknowledged organ or institution or by the supreme authority of the lineage or school to which the applying entity claims belonging.

D.- Applying entities of the Vajrayana tradition may not maintain positions contrary to the supreme authority of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Board of the Federation may appoint an ad-hoc committee to evaluate the applications. The committee shall be formed by at least three members of the Board and will have a minimum period of three months in order to submit a study of the applications to the consideration of the Board.

2. Membership in the Federation will be cancelled by the following causes:

A.- Failure to comply with the aims of the Federation or violation of its Articles of Association.

B.- Failure to comply with any of the requirements stated in Section 1 of the present Article.
